In recognition of the company’s commitment to product development and sustainability, Speedpanel has been recognised as a dual ABA100 winner of The Australian Business Awards 2020 for Product Innovation and Eco Innovation.
In accepting the awards, Speedpanel is excited to have had its innovative, market leading acoustic and fire rated wall systems recognised within these two important categories.
Australian owned and operated, Speedpanel systems have a history of challenging traditional building design by increasing construction efficiencies while offering superior fire and acoustic performance. Speedpanel’s lightweight design results in unrivalled span and height performance, and provides for category-leading ease of installation.
James Armytage, Specification, Technical and Product Development Manager for Speedpanel, says being recognised as an ABA100 winner for Product Innovation in The Australian Business Awards 2020 affirms the company’s commitment to continuous product improvement and testing.
“The last three years have been important in the evolution of the Speedpanel product,” says Armytage. “These awards are a confirmation of our work, and recognise Speedpanel as a manufacturer who embraces innovation, seeks continuous improvement of our products and is committed to industry-leading product performance, testing and certification.”
This commitment to innovation has led to the development of cutting-edge, environmentally friendly materials that are a feature of Speedpanel’s next product evolution, currently in development thanks to a collaborative research partnership with leading universities and the Innovative Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (IMCRC).
Combined with a range of sustainability initiatives within its manufacturing processes, including the use of on-site renewable energy generation, rainwater and recycled material, Speedpanel is dramatically reducing the embedded energy of its products.
These initiatives have contributed to Speedpanel also being recognised as an ABA100 winner for Eco Innovation in The Australian Business Awards 2020.
“One of the most front-of-mind issues for us is our contribution to sustainability in the building industry, and it is gratifying to have Speedpanel’s commitment to environmental innovation recognised by these awards,” says Lindsay Evans, Head of Sales, Marketing and Product Development for Speedpanel.
“As a company we are always looking for opportunities to reduce the embodied energy it takes to manufacture and install these systems on a construction project, as well as to increase the recyclability of our raw materials.”
Speedpanel is available in 78mm, 64mm and 51mm panels to suit a wide variety of acoustic and fire wall applications. As well as high-rise residential and commercial applications, Speedpanel has also been used in major infrastructure projects including the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Australia 108, Crown Hotel Resort at Barangaroo and the ongoing Melbourne Metro Tunnel project.
“Winning these Australian Business Awards will inspire us to continue to innovate, and we remain committed to industry engagement as we seek to solve the current and future challenges facing construction projects,” adds Evans.
