Cutting SPEEDPANEL® & Crystalline Silica
Speedpanel products have been analysed and found to contain approximately 2.5 % Crystalline Silica, compared to typical samples of Engineered Stone (between 40 – 95 %) and Bricks (between 5-15 %). Accordingly, provided the necessary precautions are taken, the relative risk of exposure is much lower when cutting Speedpanel products compared to other typical industry products.
Speedpanel offers the advantage of easy on-site cutting and drilling, allowing for flexible and efficient installations. To ensure the safety and well-being of our installers, we strongly advise the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the drilling and/or cutting process. PPE including adequate gloves, safety glasses, respiratory masks, wet-cutting equipment, HEPA-filter fitted vacuum units and specialsied cutting saws can help provide protection against potential hazards like Respirable Crystalline Silica exposure. By equipping yourself with the right gear, you can confidently work with Speedpanel while minimising associated risks.
Empowering Speedpanel Users for Safety
We encourage all Speedpanel users to take responsibility for their work environment and generate their own site-specific Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) in compliance with relevant OH&S requirements and legislations. This proactive approach ensures that your specific application and site conditions are carefully considered, and you can work confidently while adhering to state and federal regulations regarding products containing Respirable Crystalline Silica.
