Temporary Fuel Levy Introduced Due to Global Fuel Price Volatility

31st March 2026

Following our recent communication regarding the introduction of the Temporary Fuel Levy, we would like to provide an update.

Due to ongoing volatility in fuel prices and further increases from our freight providers, we have unfortunately experienced additional cost escalations since our initial notice. While we have absorbed as much of these increases as possible, a portion of the additional costs will need to be passed on, resulting in a further adjustment to certain components of the Temporary Fuel Levy.

Updated Temporary Fuel Levy (ex GST) Increase Notice – Effective 7th April

The following revised surcharges will apply to relevant freight movements:

Warehouse Transfers

  • NSW Transfers — $1.50 per m² (previously $1.00)

  • QLD Transfers — $3.50 per m² (previously $2.00)

Direct-to-Site Interstate Deliveries

  • Sydney, ACT and South Australia — $400 per delivery (previously $200)

All other Temporary Fuel Levy charges remain unchanged.

These adjustments will take effect from 7th April 2026.

Notes
– All rates are quoted exclusive of GST.
– These charges apply in addition to existing freight charges previously communicated in our Q2 2026 Price List issued on 3rd March, including the standard interstate warehouse transfer rates of:

  • $7.00 per m² — New South Wales
• $10.00 per m² — Queensland

– These rates remain subject to change, and we will  endeavour to provide as much notice as reasonably possible should adjustments  be required.

As previously communicated, the levy will continue to be applied as a separate line item to maintain transparency and allow flexibility for review. We will monitor fuel pricing and freight provider movements closely and reassess the levy on a fortnightly basis.

We understand the impact that cost increases can have and will continue to absorb increases wherever possible. Customers who prefer to arrange their own freight are, as always, welcome to do so.

16th March 2026

Recent geopolitical developments impacting global fuel supply — particularly the current conflict involving Iran — have resulted in increased volatility across fuel markets worldwide.

Over the past week several of Speedpanel’s freight partners have advised of fuel surcharge increases of approximately 10–15%. These increases are now affecting freight costs across both interstate warehouse transfers and local deliveries.

In order to manage these external cost pressures while keeping our recently issued freight rates unchanged, Speedpanel will introduce a Temporary Fuel Levy.

The levy will be applied as a separate line item on applicable freight charges. Structuring the surcharge this way ensures transparency and clearly communicates that the adjustment is temporary and directly linked to fuel market conditions.

Customers are being provided two weeks’ notice, with the levy scheduled to take effect from Monday 30 March.
